The Norwegian Tax Administration’s Path Toward Smarter Case Processing

At the GoForIT Conference 2025, we gained a unique insight into how the Norwegian Tax Administration is exploring new ways to use artificial intelligence (AI) in its daily operations.
In a conversation with Marcus Liebold, Director of Professional Affairs at the Tax Administration, we take a closer look at how AI can function as an archival assistant and contribute to more efficient case processing in the public sector.

Last summer, Best of Breed built its first prototype of the archival assistant in collaboration with the Norwegian Tax Administration. The solution determines whether documents are worthy of archiving and provides decision support to caseworkers. It has now been further developed into a ready-to-use product by Best of Breed, capable of automatically archiving and registering documents with the correct key information.
With built-in privacy protection, the solution meets all security requirements for use in the public sector, in line with the Data Protection Authority’s sandbox project from 2022.
